P.S. - I heard that putting white wine vinegar in the washing machine with the clothes helps. I haven’t tried it. Doesn’t it stink up the clothes?

Fading clothes, especially black, is all about the soap (detergent) that you use. It is the #1 cause of fading. I use cheap detergent for all my clothes except the colored clothes, For colors I use Cheer liquid, Read the label and get the one that says Color Safe. My black shirts and pants seemed to always turn yucky gray, but now they stay black. The soap costs alittle more, but well worth it.

You have to take them to the dry cleaners. Washing them at home will always cause them to fade.
I do this with all my black colored cotton clothing that I don’t want fading on me. Also putting cottons fabrics in the dryer is not good for them. The dryer shrinks and fades clothing
A little salt with the washing powder is an old house wives trick. Though there are some great products out there now. Try a black clothes washing liquid which is made just for them. Yes put inside out and on cold wash plus dry on a low heat or hang them. Iron with a cloth between it so it doesn’t get those white marks. Also the best is to wash only blacks together and try to wash on a gently wash.
Try using a more gentle detergent.. Woolite for darks is very good and try using the gentle cycle… Unless your clothing gets really, really dirty…
Also, a major cause of fading clothing is drying it in the dryer.. If you can try hanging your clothing to dry in the bathroom on the shower rod or get a folding rack… I think hamilton beach company makes a stackable clothing dryer that also circulates air and it’s a snap to put together and take apart…
I have a rack I hang my clothing on and that works for me…
