Demetius S asked:
I usually wash my clothes myself, and every time i wash my clothes they either end up faded or shrunk. Is there anyway I can prevent or avoid these things while washing?

COLD WATER
try less sope, (color keeper) and try to use 4-6 cycles inted ot 8-16
use cold water it makes them last longer!!XD
I turn mine inside out to wash
buy laundry soap that doesn’t fade your clothes.. like Woolite
put ice.
wash them in cold water and dont dry the ones you dont want to shrink let them dry the old fashion way and iron them if you have to for darks buy the laundry soaps for dark clothes they really work
Cold water dude and dry it in air
Use milder soaps, not detergents
use good quality detergents at recommended levels
reverse the coloured fabricks while washing
rince thoroughly to drain off all the soap and detergent
coloured clothes to be dried in shade
press the clothes every time you wash, this retains the fibres on the surface and thus avoids removing colour with the thin fibres.
you may use some colour retainer products (some available in India)
Do not allow clothes to be soiled heavily, where in you may have to wash them hard, thus more abbrasive action on the surface.
Serious sweat spoils the colours.
Use some innerwear in case of coloured fabrics.
buy clothes from reputed cloth manufacturer, who takes care of proper colour bonding materials while manufacturing.
Cold or warm water. Use a good quality (name brand) detergent. Use bleach only on white cottons, which you wash separately and can use hot water on those.
If the garment has buttons, fasten them, zippers, zip them up (it protects them). If you can, pull your pants pockets inside out so they can get clean.
Do not use the hottest setting on the dryer, use a medium heat or permanent press (this may take longer and cost more at a Laundromat). Remove and fold/hang immediately after the cycle is done.
also try the gental cycle, esp if you have a top loader washer. My front loader washer is MUCH!! better on wear and tear of the clothes while washing. There are some brands dispite my efforts that just seem to fade anyways!
wash on a cool wash
use a colour safe powder (no bleach or brightener)
pull them into shape while they are wet
wash inside out, with plenty of water
don’t overload the wash machine, give them room to move
iron while nearly dry to reshape properly
if you dry them outside, bring them in when they are dry, the sun will fade them
check the instructions before you wash
some people I know send their clothes to the cleaners that may be EXPENSIVE but thats how they keep their clothes clean without shrinking
Check this out ! LaundryPure attaches to your washing machine and eliminates detergents, bleach and fabric sotteners. Never buy them again.
Do yourself and the environment a huge favor. While also helping to protect humans and wildlife at the same time.
It also eliminates dust mites.
