How do I wash clothes with self-driven metal eyelets?

I am planning on putting metal eyelets on some of my clothes (all are made of cotton) with an eyelet setting machine. Can I wash them in the machine, or do I handwash them?

Also, can these eyelets rust? If so, should I be setting them into my clothes at all?

    Wash them in the machine on a gentle cycle. They won’t rust as long as they are fully dried and not left to sit.

    The eyelets will rust unless you now for sure if the eyelets will rust dont bother using them.
